VOICE STARTS ONLINE VOTER’S GUIDE

In a more broad based attempt to reach and educate people about their responsibilities as citizens and voters, an area newspaper has begun an online voting guide. This announcement came today from the Citizen’s Voice:
Beginning today, voters can learn about the candidates in the May 21 primary and their policy positions in The Citizens' Voice online Voters Guide. The guide, developed in conjunction with the nonprofit, non-partisan group e.thePeople, can be accessed at citizensvoice.com/voterguide. Users of the site can compare the candidates running for office in county, municipal and school board races and read biographical information and issue positions entered by the candidates themselves.
Candidates who have yet to participate can gain access to the site by sending their email addresses to djanoski@citizensvoice.com. On May 21, Democratic and Republican voters will choose nominees for Luzerne County Council, county controller, school director and municipal offices at the township, borough and city level. Nominees will also be chosen for three magisterial judicial districts.

AREA CONGRESSMEN ADVOCATE FOR TOBYHANNA

Congressman Lou Barletta, PA-11, has authored a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration advocating Tobyhanna Army Depot as the location of the FAA’s Integrated Control Facility for air traffic control. The new site must be within 150 miles of New York City, but currently, locations outside of New York State are not being considered. Congressmen Tom Marino, PA-10, and Matt Cartwright, PA-17, also signed the letter. “We would like to express our continued concerns about the exclusion of federal installations in Pennsylvania in the FAA’s request for information,” the Members of Congress wrote to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta. “Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD), for example, is just one facility in Pennsylvania that meets all of the relocation criteria outlined by the FAA except the arbitrary limitation based on state boundaries.” The Members noted that Tobyhanna, which is “located 81.3 miles from downtown New York City, contains an operational radar and antenna range campus. Additionally, TYAD already has a 240,000 square foot building available with the opportunity for expansion.” The Pennsylvania Representatives argued that Tobyhanna or other sites would offer better surroundings for workers. “Many locations in Pennsylvania offer a significantly lower cost-of-living standard for current and future employees,” they wrote.
The three reminded Administrator Huerta that he has said he would be open to sites outside of New York. “Recently, on February 27, 2013, during a House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation hearing, you testified that you would consider an ICF site outside of the state of New York,” they wrote. “We request that you give equal consideration for the establishment of this facility at the TYAD. Ultimately, we urge the FAA to allow fair competition to determine the best site for the relocation of the ICF without imposing arbitrary limitations based on state boundaries.”
Barletta, Marino and Cartwright requested information on an ongoing analysis the FAA is conducting, including an opinion survey of current employees, while noting that the issue is also important as the fiscal crisis continues. “The federal government must eliminate federal overspending,” they wrote. “This begins by making commonsense leasing and procurement decisions regarding federal buildings.”

Wow…..David, your “hater” is out again. I’m glad you put up the online Voter’s Guide because I didn’t know it existed. And I know that area Congressmen treat you and other bloggers like media news resources. So why wouldn’t you tell your audience about it? I rarely respond to posts from idiots but here’s a few facts:
You are here nearly every day. Others have been missing in action since taking their bows at Blogfest. For 7 years LuLac has been here doing what no one else in this area has done.
And let’s talk about original content. 13 Questions, your election coverage of the past which takes research and time, your coverage of all the major issues on both levels of Luzerne and Lackawanna County, your Maybe I’m Amazed column, your year end editions on Women We Love, Passing Through as well as the year in review on the world, national, statewide and local level. That all comes from your pen my man. And then there are the books, the TV shows, the WARM blog the Twitter postings twice weekly (brilliant idea by the way) as well as your Facebook page which is almost like a website.
So in the middle of the night hater, read your newspapers, put a couple of 8 tracks in and try to write something other than criticism of a good guy who shows up every day and gives us a laugh, information and some thoughtful debate about politics.

13 Questions? The blog author interviews himself. Tough stuff.

WARM blog? Error filled.

Reprinting news releases? Grueling.

Take a bow!

Man, this is getting worse than the Media Board. LOok, I personally e mailed a few questions to 13 Questions through the years and I got my question answered. Submit one instead of complaining.
The WARM blog, errors? Three quarters of those people associated with WARM are dead. Yonki constantly asks for contributions of memories, thoughts, whatever. If you know something, submit something constructive, don't just piss and moan. There is a WARM video tribute. There was a jingle up last week? If you know so much, then put up or shut up. Your jealously and pettiness are pretty tiring. But you son of a gun, YOU ARE STILL READING! And somehow that perversity is pleasing to me and must be frustrating as hell to you.
